xxiii. attis (carmen lxiii passim)

attis and his buddies, drawn by a fatal attraction to the magna mater, cybele, land in the troad to the beat of the cymbal and tympanum.  immediately intoxicated by religious fervour, attis makes a sacrificial offering to the goddess.  bleeding like a stuck pig, he dances wildly to the music.
